Welcome to Wisteria

I have started blogs before.

Actually, I have started, deleted, redesigned, renamed, and questioned enough blogs to probably qualify for some sort of award. Or therapy. Maybe both.

But Wisteria Witch feels different.

I started this blog because I missed having a little corner of the internet that felt like mine, a place where I could write without trying to fit myself into one neat little box. Because I don’t fit into one.

For many years, actually, more like three decades, writing has been one of the ways I make sense of things. Sometimes I write because I have something important to say; sometimes I write because my head is too full and I need somewhere to put the thoughts. And sometimes I just really want to share a recipe, a spell, something I made for the house, or a completely unnecessary thing I bought and now believe everyone needs. Balance 🙂

I’m a witch, a homebody, a creative person, and I live with chronic pain, Bipolar Disorder, and ADHD. I love plants, crystals, cooking, decorating, and making ordinary things feel a little more magical. I can spend hours researching something completely random because my ADHD brain decided we absolutely need to become an expert on it by midnight.

I also overthink, disappear into my own little world sometimes, change hobbies like socks, and have far too many opinions about things nobody asked me about.

So naturally, I made a blog.

Why Wisteria Witch?

The name Wisteria Witch wasn’t random. I have always loved wisteria trees, the soft colours, the cascading flowers, and the dreamy, almost magical feeling they have. There is something about them that I’ve always found ridiculously beautiful.

Wisteria is often associated with love, romance, happiness, endurance, longevity, and lasting connections. Then I came across something connecting the wisteria tree with Pisces, describing it as mystical and beautiful, wrapping itself around things and finding it hard to let go.

As a Pisces, I felt personally attacked. Because, well, that’s painfully accurate.

I feel things deeply; I become attached to people, places, memories, and even old versions of myself. Letting go has never exactly been my greatest talent.

The more I thought about it, the more Wisteria Witch felt right. Wisteria grows, climbs, changes, and can live for an incredibly long time. There is something beautiful about that kind of endurance.

Soft, a little mystical, constantly growing, and perhaps a little too sentimental for my own good. It felt like me.

So, Wisteria Witch it is. ♥

What Wisteria Witch Is About

Wisteria Witch isn’t meant to be a perfectly curated life. My home gets messy, my plans change, and my body doesn’t always cooperate with me. Sometimes I feel creative and could make seventeen things in one afternoon; other days, getting through the day is enough. That’s life.

I wanted a blog where I could be honest about all of it without every post needing to be deep, educational, inspirational, or life-changing. Sometimes things can just be nice.

As for sticking to one subject, that was never going to happen; my brain can barely stay interested in one thing for an entire afternoon, so expecting my blog to pick a niche and behave itself seems wildly unrealistic. One day we might talk about witchcraft, the next mental health, food, home projects, creativity, seasons, or whatever strange rabbit hole I’ve fallen into that week.

Basically, the blog has range. Or ADHD. Probably both 🙂

Still Becoming

This blog is also a way for me to slow down and notice my own life a little more. I’m 41 now, and I think I’ve reached that point where I’m much less interested in becoming the person I’m apparently supposed to be.

I’d rather build a life that actually feels like me. Cozy, a little chaotic, creative, quiet when I need it to be, full of small rituals, good food, too many plants, although I firmly believe there’s no such thing as too many plants, candles, coffee, and probably dog hair somewhere it absolutely shouldn’t be.

I don’t have everything figured out. I don’t think I ever will. But I’ve learned a lot from the things I’ve lived through, the mistakes I’ve made, the things I’ve lost, and the versions of myself I’ve had to leave behind.

I’m still learning, always changing, still becoming the better version of me. And I wanted somewhere to document that.
So, that’s why Wisteria Witch exists: a little online home for my thoughts, my creativity, my witchy side, and all the ordinary bits of life in between.

If you’ve somehow found your way here, welcome. ♥

Make yourself comfortable; the coffee is probably already brewing. ☕🌿
